General Dynamics is a global aerospace and defense company specializing in high-end design, engineering and manufacturing. Its portfolio spans business aviation; ship construction and repair; land combat vehicles, weapon systems and munitions; and technology products and services. The company is organized into 10 business units grouped in four operating segments, with a lean corporate function that sets strategy and governance and allocates capital, while each business unit runs its own strategy and results.

The Aerospace segment (25% of 2025 revenue; $13.1 billion) comprises Gulfstream and Jet Aviation. Gulfstream designs and builds business jets, including the G500, G600, G700 and G800, with the G400 and G300 in development, and supports more than 3,000 aircraft in service. Jet Aviation manages over 300 business aircraft, operates about 30 fixed-base operator facilities on four continents, and runs custom completion, refurbishment and maintenance centers. Marine Systems (32%; $16.7 billion) includes Electric Boat, Bath Iron Works and NASSCO. It builds Columbia-class and Virginia-class nuclear-powered submarines, Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, and Navy auxiliary ships such as the Expeditionary Sea Base and John Lewis-class oilers, and provides repair, modernization and lifecycle support. Combat Systems (17%; $9.2 billion) includes Land Systems, European Land Systems and Ordnance and Tactical Systems. It makes the Abrams tank, Stryker, Piranha, Ajax, ASCOD and other armored vehicles, plus munitions, propellants, artillery components, Gatling guns and missile subsystems. The Technologies segment, with about 40,000 employees, consists of GDIT and Mission Systems. It offers technology solutions and mission-support services, mobile communication, computer, command-and-control and cyber mission systems, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solutions.

Customers include the U.S. Navy and Army, the U.S. Marine Corps, the Department of War, the intelligence community, federal civilian and state agencies, allied and NATO governments, and individual and corporate business jet owners and operators. Commercial customers also include Jones Act shipping customers. Combat Systems sells to the U.S. Army and to allied governments including Canada, the U.K., Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Romania and Denmark, with vehicles in service in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the Indo-Pacific. Marine Systems is positioned to benefit from expected growth in Navy submarine and ship construction over the next two decades, and also supports allied navies with submarine program management and engineering.

Gulfstream designs and manufactures its large-cabin aircraft in Savannah, Georgia, with midsize aircraft assembled by a non-U.S. partner and all models outfitted in Gulfstream and Jet Aviation facilities. Electric Boat is the lead shipyard on Navy nuclear submarine programs and works with a network of about 3,000 suppliers, while NASSCO partners with South Korea's DSEC on commercial ship designs. Combat Systems operates in several countries, including Canada, the U.K., Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Romania, and OTS has over 25 locations across the U.S. and Canada. The company says it invests in advanced technologies and capacity expansion and aims to be the low-cost, high-quality provider in each of its markets.
