SEC filings, insider trading & institutional ownership from EDGAR.
Sony Group Corporation is a Tokyo-based entertainment, technology and electronics group, established in Japan in 1946 as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo and renamed Sony Group Corporation in April 2021 to focus on its role as headquarters of the Sony Group. Its businesses span video games and network services, recorded music and music publishing, motion pictures and television, consumer and professional electronics, and image sensors. In October 2025 it completed a partial spin-off of its Financial Services business; Sony Financial Group Inc. (SFGI) was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Prime Market, Sony retained 16.40% of its shares, and SFGI became an affiliated company rather than a consolidated subsidiary.

PlayStation digital software is sold mainly through the PlayStation Store, and hardware and physical software are sold through third-party distributors and Sony's own direct-to-consumer website. Pictures content is licensed to broadcasters, cable and satellite providers and digital platforms, and Sony's networks and streaming services earn advertising and subscription revenue. Sales are seasonal, with the third quarter ending December 31 generally the highest, mainly in Game & Network Services and ET&S.
Electronics products are mostly marketed under the "Sony" brand through sales subsidiaries in Japan, the U.S., Europe, China, Asia-Pacific and other regions. Sony buys parts, components and raw materials globally and generally keeps multiple suppliers for important items. It notes exposure to the availability of semiconductors and LCD panels and to prices of energy, resin, sheet steel and copper. Sony provides after-sales repair and warranty service through online support, call centers and service centers, and holds many patents and licenses from others. In fiscal 2026 capital expenditures were 804.9 billion yen, including about 246.7 billion yen to increase image sensor production capacity. Its registered office is at 7-1, Konan 1-chome, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
