The Design IP segment offers a broad portfolio of silicon-proven semiconductor intellectual property, including interface IP (USB, PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, MIPI, HDMI, UCIe), logic libraries and embedded memories, configurable ARC processors, security IP, automotive-focused IP, and SoC infrastructure IP, supported by its IP Accelerated initiative that provides architecture design, IP hardening, and signal/power integrity analysis services. Synopsys serves primarily semiconductor and electronics systems companies across markets such as AI, 5G, automotive, mobile, digital home, Internet of Things, and cloud computing infrastructure, with one customer accounting for over 12% of total revenue in recent fiscal years. The company distributes its software primarily through direct sales and electronic delivery, maintains sales and support offices across the Americas, Europe, Israel, and Asia (including Japan, China, Korea, India, and Taiwan), and licenses its EDA and IP products under non-exclusive agreements, while selling or leasing its emulation and prototyping hardware systems.

It faces competition primarily from Cadence Design Systems and Siemens EDA, as well as customers’ internally developed design and IP capabilities, and it maintains a large patent and trade secret portfolio to protect its proprietary technologies.
