Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is a global technology company that develops intelligent solutions to help customers capture, analyze and act on data from edge to cloud. Its legacy dates to the partnership founded in 1939 by William Hewlett and David Packard. The company's strategy is built around three megatrends it sees shaping enterprise IT: networking, cloud and artificial intelligence. It has evolved toward a platform-based model with a portfolio richer in software and services. Its acquisition of Juniper Networks gave it a full networking technology stack.

HPE reported five segments in fiscal 2025: Server, Hybrid Cloud, Networking, Financial Services, and Corporate Investments and Other. Server offers general-purpose and workload-optimized servers and integrated systems for high-performance computing, supercomputing and AI, including HPE ProLiant, Synergy, Cray EX and XD, and NonStop, plus related support services. Hybrid Cloud covers storage (HPE Alletra), private cloud through HPE GreenLake (including Private Cloud AI), and infrastructure software such as OpsRamp, Ezmeral and Zerto. Networking provides Wi-Fi and cellular access points, switches, routers, gateways, and software such as Mist and Aruba Central, along with services and as-a-service models. Financial Services offers leasing, financing, IT consumption and asset management. Corporate Investments and Other includes Advisory and Professional Services and Hewlett Packard Labs, which runs R&D. Server products and Networking products each exceeded 10% of net revenue in fiscal 2025. From fiscal 2026, the Server, Hybrid Cloud and Financial Services segments merge into a new Cloud & AI segment. Telco and Instant On move from Networking to Corporate Investments and Other.

Customers range from small and medium-sized businesses to large global enterprises and governmental entities, organized into commercial and large enterprise groups that include business and public sector buyers. HPE focuses on sovereign and enterprise customers in AI infrastructure. Products and services are sold worldwide, directly and through resellers, distributors, master area partners, OEMs, independent software vendors, systems integrators and advisory firms. About 61% of fiscal 2025 net revenue came from outside the United States, and one distributor accounted for about 10% of net revenue.

HPE uses outsourced design and contract manufacturers worldwide, and manufactures a limited number of finished products itself. It builds or configures products to order and tries to keep inventory holding periods short. It buys from many vendors but relies on single-source suppliers for some customized parts, including Intel and AMD for x86 processors, Broadcom for certain ASSPs, and NVIDIA for GPUs. Purchase orders typically cover 90 to 120 days of demand. R&D spending was $2.5 billion in fiscal 2025, with work focused on next-generation servers, AI and supercomputing systems, and direct liquid cooling. HPE cites competitive advantages including its supercomputing heritage, AI-native networking, the GreenLake consumption model, its partner ecosystem and its financial services offerings.
