GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO /OH/ (GT)
SEC filings, insider trading & institutional ownership from EDGAR.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is an Ohio corporation organized in 1898 and is one of the world's leading manufacturers of tires. It develops, manufactures, distributes and sells tires for most applications and is one of the world's largest operators of commercial truck service and tire retreading centers. In 2025 it reported net sales of $18,280 million and a net loss of $1,721 million. Its stated strategic vision is to be #1 in tires and service. It completed its multi-year "Goodyear Forward" transformation plan in 2025, which included about $2.2 billion of gross proceeds from selling its off-the-road tire business, the Dunlop brand and its polymer chemicals business, as well as cost reductions and debt reduction.
The company operates through three regional segments: Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Asia Pacific. Tire units made up about 84% of 2025 sales, and chemical products about 2%. Worldwide tire unit sales were 158.7 million in 2025, of which 113.1 million were replacement and 45.6 million were original equipment. Brands include Goodyear, Cooper, Kelly, Mastercraft, Roadmaster, Debica, Sava, Fulda, Mickey Thompson, Avon and Remington, along with house and private-label brands. Americas is the largest segment. It sells passenger, light truck, commercial, aircraft and other tires, and makes tread rubber and retreading materials. It also operates about 505 Company-owned retail outlets and about 180 commercial truck service locations. EMEA, the second largest segment, sells tires for automobiles, trucks, buses, aircraft and motorcycles, with Cooper being introduced as the primary second-tier brand after the Dunlop sale. Asia Pacific sells tires for automobiles, trucks, buses, aircraft and farm use, and provides retreading and repair services through licensed retail stores. Across segments, the company also offers retreading, automotive and commercial repair services, and online sales.
Customers include vehicle manufacturers that buy tires as original equipment, as well as replacement-market buyers: consumers, commercial trucking fleets, and dealers and retailers. In the Americas, tires are sold mainly through a large network of independent dealers, national and regional retailers, Company-owned stores and wholesale channels, including TireHub, its national wholesale distributor in the U.S. In EMEA, sales go mainly through independent multi-brand tire dealers, regional distributors and retail outlets, 55 of which Goodyear owns. In Asia Pacific, tires are sold through licensed and franchised retail stores, multi-brand retailers, wholesale dealers and a growing number of online outlets. The company has marketing operations in almost every country. Its business is not seasonal to any significant degree.
Goodyear's principal offices are at 200 Innovation Way, Akron, Ohio. It manufactures in 49 facilities in 19 countries, and employs about 63,000 full-time and temporary associates. Americas has plants in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru. EMEA has thirteen plants in eight countries, and Asia Pacific has seven plants in China, India, Indonesia and Thailand. Its principal raw materials are synthetic and natural rubber; synthetic rubber was about 50% of rubber consumed in 2025, and natural rubber is bought on the world market. The Texas plants that supplied its synthetic rubber were transferred in the 2025 chemical business sale, though they continue to supply it. Its main global competitors are Bridgestone and Michelin, with Continental, Hankook, Kumho, Pirelli, Sumitomo, Toyo, Yokohama and regional makers also significant. Its products are subject to U.S. safety regulation (NHTSA, FMVSS, the TREAD Act) and European Union tire, chemical and sustainability rules.
