The Clorox Company is a multinational manufacturer and marketer of consumer and professional products. It reported fiscal year 2026 net sales of $6.7 billion and employed about 9,200 people worldwide as of June 30, 2026. Founded in Oakland, California, in 1913 and incorporated in Delaware, it operates in approximately 25 countries or territories and sells in about 95 markets. Its brands include Clorox, Pine-Sol, Liquid-Plumr, Poett, Glad, Fresh Step, Kingsford, Hidden Valley, Brita and Burt's Bees, and over 80% of sales come from brands holding the No. 1 or No. 2 market share position in their categories. In April 2026 it acquired GOJO, now operating as Clorox Purell and based in northeast Ohio, adding the Purell brand and health and hygiene solutions. Its IGNITE strategy guides innovation, portfolio evolution and sustainability.

The company reports four segments. Health and Wellness covers U.S. cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing products under brands such as Clorox, Clorox2, Pine-Sol, Scentiva, Tilex, Liquid-Plumr and Formula 409, along with Purell and GOJO skin sanitization products, professional products under CloroxPro and Clorox Healthcare, and Hidden Valley foodservice products. Household covers Glad bags and wraps, Fresh Step and Scoop Away cat litter, and Kingsford grilling products. Lifestyle covers Hidden Valley dressings, dips, seasonings and sauces, Brita water filtration, and Burt's Bees natural personal care. International covers products sold outside the U.S., including home care and laundry additives (Clorox, Poett, Pine-Sol, Clorinda, Chux), Glad, Ever Clean and Fresh Step litter, and Brita. By product line, cleaning products were 44% of fiscal 2026 net sales, bags and wraps 15%, food products 11% and cat litter 10%. The Glad venture agreement with P&G expired on January 31, 2026, and the company bought P&G's 20% interest in that business.

In the U.S., products are sold to mass retailers, grocery outlets, warehouse clubs, dollar stores, home hardware centers, drug, pet and military stores, and e-commerce retailers. Sales go through a direct sales force and, for grocery, a network of brokers and wholesalers. Some brands are sold direct to consumers. Institutional, janitorial, food-service and healthcare products are sold to distributors and redistributors through a direct sales force and brokers. Outside the U.S., products reach retailers through subsidiaries, licensees, distributors and joint ventures with local partners. Walmart and its affiliates accounted for 26% of fiscal 2026 net sales, and the five largest customers together accounted for about half. Grilling product sales are seasonal, concentrated from March through September.

The company buys raw materials from numerous U.S. and international suppliers, some sole or single source. Key inputs include resins, non-woven fabrics, sodium hypochlorite, corrugated cardboard, soybean oil, solvents and amine derivatives. It manages price volatility with derivatives and long-term supply contracts. It competes with nationally advertised brands, private label products and large multinational companies, as well as retailers and B2B competitors, on performance, brand reputation, price, innovation and digital capabilities. Its principal research and development campus is in Pleasanton, California, and its headquarters are at 1221 Broadway, Oakland, California. During fiscal 2026 it completed a multi-year transformation, including a cloud-based ERP system, at a total incremental investment of about $580 million.
