Avery Dennison Corp (AVY)
SEC filings, insider trading & institutional ownership from EDGAR.
Avery Dennison Corporation is a global materials science and digital identification company, founded in 1935 and incorporated in Delaware in 1977. It designs and develops labeling and functional materials, radio-frequency identification (RFID) inlays and tags, software applications that connect the physical and digital, and offerings that enhance branded packaging and carry or display information. Its products and solutions are aimed at optimizing labor and supply chain efficiency, reducing waste and mitigating loss, advancing sustainability and transparency, and better connecting brands and consumers.
The company reports two segments. Materials Group, about 69% of 2025 net sales, is a leading provider to the pressure-sensitive label and graphics industries. It makes label materials, graphics and reflective materials, and functional bonding materials such as performance tapes, mechanical fasteners and performance polymers, under brands including Fasson, JAC, Avery Dennison and Mactac. Solutions Group, about 31% of net sales, provides information and branding solutions: item-level ultra-high-frequency RFID, visibility and loss prevention, price ticketing, care and compliance labeling, brand protection and security, brand embellishments, tags, labels, sustainable packaging, and Vestcom-brand shelf-edge productivity and media solutions. In 2025 the company acquired W.F. Taylor Holdings (Taylor Adhesives), a flooring adhesives business, for about $390 million, and made venture investments in five technology companies.
Avery Dennison serves industries worldwide, including home and personal care, apparel, general retail, e-commerce, logistics, food and grocery, pharmaceuticals and automotive. Label materials are sold to converters for food, beverage, durables, pharmaceutical, wine and spirits and logistics uses. Graphics and reflective products go to architectural, commercial sign, digital printing, construction, automotive, fleet transportation, and traffic and safety markets. Tapes serve automotive, electronics, building and construction, industrial, personal care and medical applications. International operations were about 69% of 2025 net sales, and about 40% came from emerging markets.
The company operated over 200 manufacturing and distribution facilities in more than 50 countries at the end of 2025 and had about 35,000 employees, roughly 58% of them in Asia Pacific. Principal raw materials are paper, plastic films and resins, and specialty chemicals; most self-adhesive materials are made with water-based emulsion and hot-melt adhesive technologies. Competitors include UPM Adhesive Materials, Fedrigoni, Lintec and Flexcon in label materials; 3M and Orafol in graphics and reflective products; 3M, Tesa and Nitto Denko in tapes; and Checkpoint Systems, R-pac, SML Group, Arizon RFID and Tageos in Solutions Group. The company has research and development efforts in materials science, process engineering, RFID and digital solutions, and holds and licenses patents. Its headquarters are at 8080 Norton Parkway, Mentor, Ohio.
